1927-2009

was not quite familiar with this building, yet still cannot cope how can this happen to such a historic building that used to beautify our central city landscape. It was build during the Austro-Hungarian empire, in 1927, combining the Neo-Baroqu and Art Neoveau styles (that's what I've read). During the Second World War, it was named Hotel Scanderbeg, later being renamed to Hotel Union. This was no accident, considering that the municipality wanted to take down the building - because it stood as a reminder of the "old repressive times".

so sad we let this happen.
